Description:ICEMail is an email client written entirely in Java. ICEMail supports the latest email standards, including SMIME, vCard, and PGP. ICEMail is based on the Java Mail, Activation, and Help libraries. ICEMail source code and binaries are free to the general public.

Description:You may recall that in 1997, Netscape embarked on a project to rewrite Navigator/Communicator in Java. This project (code named "Xena," but sometimes referred to by the press as "Javagator") was cancelled before completion. Grendel is the mail-news portion of the Xena project written in Java. Its goal is to be a true cross-platform application with a feature set that satisfies the poweruser.

Description:SnowMail is a freeware and freesource mail client, written in Java. Actually, it fits my needs, I use SnowMail for sending my mails (text only) and downloading mails from all my POP accounts (freesurf, gmx, yahoo, ...). The SPAM filter picks out a small quantity of ham mail hidden in a huge quantity of junk mail. The whole data, including the mails, the account settings and the addressbook is protected with a passphrase. I have no more fear of perfidious attachments and scripts. The internal HTML viewer just shows the important things. Viruses, scripts and activeX controls are just ignored.

Description:The goal of OmniBiff is to create a universal "biff" program, able to monitor multiple mailboxes of any type (including internet email accounts). It is written in Java and released under the GNU General Public License, providing an easily extendable framework to facilitate the addition of new "bifflets" to monitor new types of mail servers, and new types of "skins" for displaying mailbox status.

Description:The MX Lookup Class provides a means for JAVA mail applications to directly look up recipient's email machine name. Most mail enabled applications can only direct their mail to a Smart Host meaning a host that can do it's own mail exchange record lookups. Dumb Hosts (like most email clients) cannot do this on their own and rely on a Smart Host to forward their mail. The MX Lookup class allows a mailer to bypass the relay host and send mail directly to recipients.

Description:The PLASMA project is dedicated to create a java-based, open source framework for email applications that is generic, extendable and convenient for most uses. Right know, the project is in its infancy and most of the stuff here deals with specifications. To start things off, an initial draft was written that lays the foundation of the framework. In the meantime, we have an early prototype running. PLASMA uses JavaMail to access mail servers.
