2. Fulcrum Scheduler Component

Description: This component provides a scheduler service. It is based on the TurbineScheduler provided with Turbine, but all older stuff has been removed. Currently ONLY the non persistent Scheduler is done. It loads scheduled jobs from the component config xml file.

Description:Gos4j is a way of organising processing priorities based on goals. Each goal is processed based on its time to complete, and its progress towards that goal. Deadlines are used to act as the target completion time for a goal, and can be expressed in either relative or absolute terms.

Description: The Job Scheduler is used for automation purposes - for example, process automation with the free database systems MySQL, PostgreSQL, Firebird and with SQL Server, Oracle, DB2. You can launch executable files and shell scripts and run database procedures automatically. Jobs are configurable as Web Services to provide interoperability with enterprise applications. Mode of Operation: The Job Scheduler is a batch program operating as a demon, and can be controlled by the graphical user interface of the built-in web server. The Job Scheduler uses an XML file for the configuration of executable files or shell scripts and for the timing and frequency of job starts. Job Execution: The Job Scheduler processes sequential and parallel tasks. Jobs can be organised in job chains to ensure sequential processing and can be run in multiple instances for scalability. Triggering of job starts is done by directory notification, built-in calendars and via web user interface or use of the Job Scheduler API by other applications (Java, scripting languages). Supported Platforms: The Open Source Job Scheduler is working for the following operating systems: Windows 2000/2003/XP, Linux starting with kernel 2.4, Solaris 8/9/10 and HP-UX 11.
