Change the Outline Display in Outline View : Outline « Documentation « Microsoft Office Word 2007 Tutorial

Open the document with the outline

Click the list arrow

Then select the level you want to display.

Select or clear to show or hide text formatting.

Select to show the first line only.

Then click the Close Outline View button.
